Business School
Until recently most business people just went to the school of hard knocks for their business education with very few having attended an actual business school. This was a tough and often costly way to learn about business and it had a very high dropout rate. Either because this was inherently an inefficient way to approach business learning, business schools began to pop up. The business school was at first confined to the most prestigious Ivy League schools where captains of industry could fund business schools where the future captains of industry (often their sons) could be trained. But the desire for business school training became more widespread and now most colleges and universities offer at least some business classes and many now have a full-fledged business school offering undergraduate and a postgraduate degrees in business. A serious student of business can attend a business school for four years as an undergraduate and earned a bachelor's degree in business. Then he can spend a few years in the business world and go back to business school for a master's in business administration degree. (An M.B.A.) These days, to get anywhere in the corporate Business World, a person needs and MBA.The experience and intensive business school training that the MBA represents is invaluable to today's career minded business person. This type of business school degree tells the corporate employer that you are serious about business and that you are a serious minded, goal oriented person. And these are all qualities that a corporation is looking for in a prospective employee. Of course the more prestigious the business school you get your MBA from, the better. If you can afford it and have the necessary academic and social background to gain admittance to a prestigious business school, you should consider it an investment well worth making. The doors it will open to you in the business and social worlds will be a a big help to you on your rise up the corporate ladder. But if you are just a mere mortal and must attend a lesser business school, don't fret because with the advanced training and knowledge you will receive from your business school, your future will be very bright also. You just may not get to join one of those secret societies, but oh well, you will get along somehow anyway.
