Sports cars are built for speed and designed and engineered to handle that speed as safely as possible. The family truckster just isn't up to the task and if you drive it like a sports car, you are likely to get into trouble if not in a bad wreck, at least in trouble with the law. So if you really have a need to speed, then a sports car might just be in order. Certainly, you should only race your sports car on an official race track if not for just your own safety, but for the good of the general public as sports car racing on public streets can be a serious threat to public safety. And there are now enough amateur, semi-pro and professional sports care racing tracks around that you shouldn't have to travel far to find a venue where you can satisfy your cravings for high speed thrills. Sports cars are widely available these days with many production models available right from you local car dealer. A lot of these sports cars are more for show than for go, so if your taste is for something more exotic, you may have to search around a bit for you new sports car. If you have the money, and it will take a whole lot, you can have a sports car custom built just for you. If you are going to do any serious sports car racing, this is the route you will have to take in order to be seriously competitive.
