One of the most important aspects of parenting is preparing your child for school. There many ways you can prepare your child for school and will be a process from the moment your child is born until the first day of school. This process begins when you hold your baby and speak to her. Babies begin to absorb everything from their environment both positive and negative. So why not remember to always be as pleasant and positive around your child as you can. This is good parenting. One of the most important things you can do for your child is to read books out loud beginning at a very early age. Reading to your baby will not only encourage the lifelong habit and love for reading, but it will also begin to help your baby develop language. In addition to being read to, children love to be spoken to. This will help them learn about the environment around them, including observing and interpreting people, things, sounds. colors, shapes and all the other subtle things near them. It is well researched that children who are spoken to and read to are far more prepared for school than those who were left to themselves and without such stimulation. These parenting acitivities are great ways in preparing your child for school. Another very important part of parenting your toddler or preschooler in preparing her for school, is socialization. Not only will your child get tremendous learning readiness from the way you interact with him, but it will also be important for your child to learn how to interact with other children around his own age. Your child will begin to learn about measurements, following directions, cooperating and being a part of a project that ends up with some fun and delicious product. And all this good parenting is preparing your child for school. Parenting includes activities that you do every day in your home and they could include your child. One of these is cleaning up. This simple task will help your child learn to sort and organize toys, fold laundry or put away dishes and all the while you could be talking about sizes, colors and shapes and your parenting in this way is preparing your child for school. Outside the home, some of the parenting activities that you may be involved in are swimming, story hour of the library, and playgroup. And they are all important in the process of preparing your child for school. You could also take your child to museum. Art museums could be very stimulating to your preschooler, but the most important part of this type of outing is talking about what you see. This encourages critical thinking and analyzing on the part of your child. You can ask questions. Thinking about these questions will encourage creative ways of seeing and thinking about the world and will certainly be preparing your child for school. Another fun parenting outing that caters to preschoolers is the theatre. There are often puppet shows and plays that are produced specifically for young audiences. And once again not only experiencing these cultural events will prepare your child for school, but later talking about them with you helps develop your child's appreciation for creative expression. Things like story hour, the museums and sometimes even performances at festivals are all often free of charge. So parenting doesn't mean you have to have a lot of spending money to expose you child to stimulating, educational and fun activities, all of which will help in preparing your child for school.
