Computers and Kids
Computers and kids are a natural pair. Computers and kids have quite a relationship. Kids love computers and since they have now grown up with them, they understand how to work them and they are quite comfortable with them. Computers and kids go together. Kids start with computers very early these days. So many children's toys have computer chips in them now and do some basic functions. There are toys that are designed as pre-computers for very little kids. computers and kids are a ntural fit. Children are curious and unafraid to try something if it interests them so they learn how to manipulate the computer at a very early age. Computers and kids go together so well and a child can learn so much this way. Computers are great teachers because they will repeat the information being learned endlessly if thats what the child wants or needs. Computers make great learning tools for kids because the child can control it and move at his own pace and concentrate on the areas that truly interest him. Computers and kids get along so well because computers can make learning fun and exciting. Educational software and information do not have to be dull. The software can make the information interesting and fun to learn even if it is not fascinating in and of itself. So kids can be taught the practical things more easily. Computers can make learning a game and kids love games. Which brings us to another very important aspect of computers and kids. Computer games. The computing gaming industry is a multi-billion dollar industry, now encompassing hardware and software. When most people think about computers and kids, they think of games. In the developed world anyone who knows a kid has observed him playing computer games. (Of course, there are exceptions to this.) Playing with computer games is more of a male child activity, but plenty of girls do love to play computer games too and that trend is growing. Unfortunately, many computer games are too violent and anti-social to be of much use as a quality learning tool, but mastering the skills involved just to play them with all the control buttons and trigger requires highly developed eye-hand coordination so there is that benefit from playing computer games. And there is some great educational software out there. It is amazing the vast array of gaming hardware and and accessories that are available. Computers and kids is a big industry. some controllers themselves sell for around $150. And then you can easily spend another $150 on accessories. And that is just for starters. Of course, any serious gamer needs a handheld unit also for the times when they are on the go. So many kids have close to a thousand dollars that have been invested in hardware and that doesn't even address the gaming software which is what really drives the whole thing up. Computers and kids, it is an amazing relationship. It can be so beneficial or so destructive. Computers and kids, quite a combination.
