Well, Facebook is quite a well known social networking site not only to kids and teenagers but also to young adults and even to the not so young adults. It has truly gone far from how it all started and what it was originally intended for.

The concept of Facebook was first introduced by its developer, Mark Zuckerberg in Harvard. Anyone who had a university email ID in Harvard had the privilege to join the network. It was intended for meeting people and sharing information. But the activity and membership was restricted to Harvard students only. It was instantly accepted by most students. And so they started inviting other students from other Ivy League universities and colleges as well. Soon enough the whole network had grown exponentially and became a huge success that in September of 2006 they began to welcome everybody to join the group.

Facebook is primarily a place where you can connect with your friends. You can form a network of your own or you can also join an existing network of friends and common friends. In Facebook, you can share photos and announce events. You can share whatever is happening in your life as well.

While the goal of Facebook is for sharing, you also have the option to keep some things private among friends and your own network. There are things that you can share with everybody. And there are things that you can keep from them.

With Facebook, you can advertise your business to the million of its users in the community. And you can do this for free. This is perhaps a great reason why adults have been enticed to be a part of it. Adults compose more than half of its members today. But they primarily use it for communication purposes. The most frequent users of Facebook are the teenagers. They go online mostly to talk with friends and socialize with them. They are the ones who mostly share photos and take advantage of its creative features. They are also many who are enticed to be cute with friends by sending public and private gifts to them.
