The ads can be placed for sale, rent, jobs etc., in the Wanted or Available format. • Gifts Facebook has a virtual gift shop, which comprises of gifts in form of small icons of novelty items. When a user selects a gift to be sent to a friend, the gift appears in the friend’s wall with the name of the user. Each gift costs $1.00 for sending once. The most popular gifting time is the Valentine day and friend’s birthdays. The gift also reflects in the recipient’s gift box. • Telling Your Status The status feature tells your friends about your current whereabouts, whether you are available for conversation or not, etc. • Poke Feature Facebook allows users to send pokes, to each other. The meaning of pokes is not defined; it is basically a way of communicating with your friend through pokes, instead of words. It adds fun to your messages and online conversations. In addition to the above features, some more interesting features are: the Facebook video uploading feature, Facebook events and Facebook platform which allows users to develop applications. Facebook keeps on introducing new plans and incentives to its users. This is done in order to add new users and more importantly, retain the existing users. If the users keep visiting the site frequently, the site will benefit from the advertisements it gets, turning them into profits for itself. Many schemes are also launched which give special features or privileges to users who attract others to join the Facebook online community.
