Myspace Versus Facebook
We saw how social networking sites have become a socio-cultural hang out for the youth of America. On an average every American aged 18-25 spends more than 25 minutes a day on a social networking site. Of all the social networking sites that have become popular in the last few years, Facebook and Myspace lead the list. These two can be called as the most addictive social networking sites in the world. If you are desperately trying to create and manage profiles on both, then let me tell you that your other priorities are going to lag behind. The Myspace vs. Facebook debate also has been going on for years now. So which one is the real winner? It comes down to personal preference really. Do You Love To Show Your Personality? If your answer to this question is yes, then certainly you will prefer Myspace. Myspace gives you unlimited options to customize your page in anyway that you wish. Add color, font, videos, music, the options are boundless as far as Myspace is concerned. And hey, did I forget to mention that you need not know HTML in order to personalize your page? The result can be seen in the really colorful pages on Myspace. One glance can tell you a lot about the personality and likes and dislikes of the person. But when it comes to Facebook, most of the profile pages are the same. It all comes down to whether the user is willing to fill up the details pertaining to what his interests are. For The Photographer Very few people know that other than its popularity as a social networking site, Facebook is also extremely popular as an images site. It has even replaced Flickr as the number one photo site in the world. You can easily upload complete albums to Facebook and hence you will find that a person who loves his photos will clearly prefer Facebook. Also when someone else uploads your picture, it will be automatically added to your album. This has both an upside as well as a downside. Nobody can create fake profiles of yours. But at the same time, if some close friend of yours uploads some party pictures which you do not want anyone to see, it will automatically crop up in your album. Commenting And Personalization When it comes to writing comments on a friend’s wall, Facebook will show it to other friends too via the news feed section. On the other hand, Myspace gives you a lot more features to play around with when it comes to posting messages. You don’t have to rely on boring text alone. Other Features Other than the above mentioned few, the search feature on Facebook is a real winner. Also security wise, Facebook is a much safer place than Myspace.
