Playing Fantasy Football
Fantasy football is the term that we use to refer to a season long competition among the football fans. In this competition, the participants build their own team. All such teams compete with each other. There are certain rules that are followed to score points for the various teams. Fantasy Leagues There can be eight, ten, twelve, fourteen, or sixteen fantasy teams in each fantasy football league. The teams are constructed and operated by various contestants, who are also referred to as owners. The main task of these owners is to select a beginning line for each game. The league champion is determined at the end of the season through a playoff tournament. You should note that the number of teams that will play in the playoffs is determined much before the beginning of the season. The Number of Players in a Fantasy Football Team It is not necessary for every league to have the same number of players. It varies. However, usually, each fantasy football team comprises of two defensive units, one kicker, two tight ends, three wide receivers, three running backs, and at least two quarterbacks. Players in the Line Ups The selection of the players in the line-ups also follows certain set of rules. The fantasy football team owners have to consider several factors, while they are choosing players for the beginning lines. These factors may include players on bye weeks, match-ups, and injuries. The total number of players in the active line up of every team is also different in different leagues. However, in usual circumstances, the team includes the following:
• One defensive unit
• One kicker
• One tight end
• Two wide receivers
• Two running backs, and
• One quarterback Rules for Scoring In a fantasy football game, the scoring rules include the following: The scoring player will be awarded six points because of a touchdown. The quart back also earns the same points, if the touchdown occurred because of a passing play. • The kicker gets three points for field goals. However, depending upon the length of the field goals, some fantasy football leagues offer more points for the kicker. Here, we are discussing only the most common rules, as per which, if the length of the field goals is more than fifty yards, the kicker earns five points. On the other hand, if this length is somewhere between forty and fifty yards, the kicker earns only four points. • There are also rules to negative scoring for offensive players. For example, any foul physical interception may penalize the players with two points.
