Some Important Rules Of Football
There are certain laws that must be followed in a football match. Let me give you a brief insight into the same. • The maximum length of the field of the play must not exceed two hundred yards. The maximum limit for the breadth of the field is hundred yards. It is mandatory to mark the length and breadth of the field, with flag posts on each corner of the field. • The two upright posts that are used to create goal posts for the football match must be at least 8 yards apart. For safety reasons, it is also essential to check that no tape or bar across them has been used. • The game of football starts with a toss. The side winning the toss gets to kick the ball from the center of the field. This center is the center circle on the halfway line. Here, it is important to note that the football laws prohibit the players on the other side to approach the ball within ten yards of the ball. It is only after the ball is kicked; the players from the other side can go ahead and play the ball. • After a team scores a goal, the two sides exchange the goal posts and now, the losing team will get to kick off the ball. Each time, a team scores a goal, it is essential to exchange the goalposts with each other. • The goal is considered to be scored when the ball passes between the goalposts – irrespective of the height of the ball from the ground or the goalie. As long as the ball is between inside the goal post, it will be considered as a goal. However, as per the football laws, if the ball simply touches one of the upright posts or the horizontal post, but do not enter the area of the goal, it will not be considered as goal. • No players are allowed to handle the ball. Only goalkeeper has this liberty to handle the ball, but that too, only inside the penalty area. • The football laws also prohibit the players from wearing gutta-percha, iron plates, or projecting nails on the heels or soles of their boots. • If the ball crosses the touchline, the player who first touches it, gets the opportunity to throw it inside the ground. The player has to throw the ball from the place, from where the ball left the field. The ball must be thrown in a right angle direction with the touch line. What is more, as per the football laws, the players are not allowed to play the ball inside the field, until it has touched the ground. Hope with these rules in mind, you will be an expert at football, whether you would like to play the game or just enjoy watching it.
