Holiday beverages can be delicious, colorful, intoxicating, fattening, spiritually uplifting, expensive, homemade, or any number of other things, but one thing is for sure, holiday beverages are special. Many holiday beverages are only served at that certain time of year and are anticipated with great joy. Holiday beverages can be served at certain meals, with certain company at at certain occasions. We can all think of a holiday beverage that links us to memories of a holiday in some way. Holiday beverages are just part of what makes up some holiday traditions. And some holiday beverages can be original concoctions that just your family serves and drinks. It would be interesting to compile a directory of just holiday beverages and solicit recipes from people all over the world and invite them to take pictures of the way their holiday beverage is served. Quite a cultural journey just studying holiday beverages. Some holiday beverages are typically hot and some are served cold. Some have special glasses or cups that are used only when serving that unique or traditional holiday beverage. Some common holiday beverages that one might think of are, eggnog at Christmas, Apple Cider at Halloween, served hot or cold. Hot Cocoa with marshmallows or whipped cream at Christmas breakfast, Fruit Punch at the 4th of July picnic, iced cold beer on Super Bowl Sunday or virgin Margaritas on Cinco de Mayo. And then there are all kinds of special holiday beverages that you can create for yourself and incorporate them into your holiday traditions and before you know it. That Black Cherry Green Tea Spritzer you love so much will be expected at every Easter Brunch you serve. You could make it a challenge to serve your own holiday beverages throughout the year and be known for your originality in this area. Holiday beverages are often packaged specially for particular holidays, like sparkling apple cider, cold duck and grape juice are special ordered for the Thanksgiving holiday. And of course, the refrigerator cases at every grocery store will have room for commercially produced eggnog at Christmas, but you don't have to pay for the holiday beverages marketed specially for the holidays. You can make your own from scratch and your family and guests will appreciate the time and effort that you put into your holiday beverages. And to add that little extra touch, the presentation of your holiday beverages will spruce them up even more. You can use special mugs, stemware or cups and saucers that are only brought out for the holidays. Or you can decorate your everyday glasses with ribbons or bows to give them that extra fiesta feel.
